On Monday, Ballon d’Or released it’s Dream Team that has Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo along with legendary players like Pele, Diego Maradona, and Ronaldo Nazario.
The squad features players in a 3-4-3 formation. It has Ronaldo Nazario as the central striker with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on either of the wing side. The three players have a whopping 13 Ballon d’Ors among themselves.
Messi’s 642 goals in 746 appearances for Barcelona is just one short Pele’s all-time record at one club. Cristiano Ronaldo on the other hand has scored a total of 754 goals for his club and country playing career. 450 goals has been scored when he was playing from Real Madrid.
The Brazilian striker, Ronaldo Nazario, has played for both Barcelona and Real Madrid. He scored an impressive 47 goals in 49 matches played for Barcelona and for Real Madrid he played in 177 matches in which he managed to score 104 goals.
Both Pele and Maradona featured in the lineup as two attacking midfielders on the flanks of either side. They both have played an instrumental role for their country’s FIFA World Cup victory.
Xavi Hernandez and former Germany skipper Lotthar Matthaus are the two defensive midfielders in the Ballon d’Or dream team, completing a solid 4 man midfield position. For the defensive back, Franz Beckenbauer, Paolo Maldini, and Cafu are chosen.
The Russian goalkeeping legend, Lev Yashin was chosen over Italian Gianluigi Buffon and German Manuel Neuer as the best goalkeeper of all-time for the first team.
The second team squad featured other legendary players like Johan Cruyff, Ronaldinho, Zinedine Zidane, Alfredo di Stefano, Andrea Pirlo, Roberto Carlos, and Franco Baresi.
The third team squad featured legends like George Best, Marco van Basten, Thierry Henry, Andres Iniesta, Michel Platini, Sergio Ramos, and Phillip Lahm.
