New Delhi: Rohit Sharma, senior India batsman on Friday cleared the much awaited fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru ahead of the four-Test series against Australia scheduled to start from 17 December.
Rohit had suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL, which led to him missing the ODI and T20 series of the down under tour. He still won’t be available for the first two tests, but will be available for selection for the last two tests.
“Rohit has cleared the fitness Test and will soon be flying out to Australia,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
Rohit’s fitness test took place in National Cricket Academy, under the supervision of NCA director Rahul Dravid, who is entrusted with the responsibility of giving him his fitness certificate.
Rohit is expected to board flight in the next couple of days and will have to stay in mandatory 14 days of hard quarantine before being able to train for the last two Tests in Sydney (7 to 11 January) and Brisbane (15 to 19 January).
